"The Mindset Makeover: How to Control Your Inner Thoughts for Positive Life Change"

A woman controlling her thoughts

Introduction:
From the moment we are born, our minds start as blank slates, ready to be filled with experiences, knowledge, and most importantly, thoughts. Each thought we have becomes a part of our identity, influencing our personality, habits, emotions, and beliefs and ultimately our experiences we have in life. In this post, we explore the profound impact our thoughts have on our lives and how we can consciously shape our internal and external reality by changing our thinking patterns.

Our minds are blank slates when we are born
As we enter this world, our minds are like pristine blank slates, waiting to be imprinted with the experiences and knowledge that will shape our lives. We are born without preconceived notions or preprogramed thoughts, providing us with an incredible opportunity for growth and development As we grow, our minds are constantly being shaped by our environment and experiences. The thoughts we have and the emotions they elicit can have a powerful impact on our health, relationships, careers and finances. To illustrate the point, think of yourself as a computer: whatever you put into it will be processed by your internal software (your conscious and subconscious mind) in order to produce an output (your emotions and your personality). This is why children are so impressionable, they have yet to develop the biases and preconceived notions that many adults bring with them into every situation

Each of our thoughts becomes part of our personality,
As we go through life, our thoughts become the building blocks of who we are. With each passing thought, we mould our personality, create habits, influence our emotional states, and establish our beliefs. The more we think a certain way, the more likely it is that we will continue to think that way. This can be either positive or negative. For example, if you have the thought “I’m an idiot”, then you may begin to believe it and act accordingly. If you have this thought enough times then eventually it will become part of your personality, which in turn can lead to thinking in generalities like “I’m not good at anything academic” or “I don’t have any potential for success in life. Our thoughts have the power to shape our entire being, defining how we perceive the world around us and how we respond to it.  This is why we must be very careful about the thoughts that we allow into our minds. If you think that you can’t do something, then you will never be able to achieve it. If you believe that life is unfair, then your perspective of reality will be skewed towards those beliefs.  We can use this fact to our advantage by actively choosing the type of thoughts that we want to think. By spending time reflecting on what we want in life, we can develop a clear picture of who we want to be.

Our thoughts create our lives
It is often said that we are what we think. Our thoughts do not exist in isolation; they have a profound impact on the reality we experience. Our thoughts shape our actions, decisions, and ultimately our outcomes. Our thoughts are also contagious. They can spread like wildfire and have a profound impact on the lives of those around us. When we focus our attention on negativity and criticism, it’s not surprising that others will mirror these same patterns of thinking. By directing our thoughts towards positivity, growth, and success, we have the ability to create a fulfilling and meaningful life. And yes our thoughts can be changed with practice, The human mind is incredibly powerful, but it is also very malleable. With a little bit of effort, we can change the way our brains process information and alter our thought patterns. By learning how to reframe our thoughts in a positive light, we can begin to see the world through new lenses. We can choose to focus on the good in our lives, or we can allow ourselves to be dragged down by negativity. We have the power to create our own reality. By actively choosing the type of thoughts that we think, we can create a life that we actually want to be in.

Our thoughts are incredibly dynamic, constantly evolving and adapting based on our experiences and perceptions. Every second, our minds process the information we receive from the world around us, leading to a continuous stream of thoughts. Being aware of this constant change allows us to recognize the power we have to influence our thoughts and subsequently, our lives.  We have the power to choose our thoughts and emotions, regardless of what is happening in the world around us.  We can choose to focus on things that are positive, hopeful and uplifting. Or we can dwell on negative experiences and feelings that may not even be real.  If you’re feeling down, notice how your thoughts are contributing to your mood, are they negative and pessimistic? Do you feel like nothing is going right? If so, try to recognize that these thoughts and feelings are being created by you and they can be changed by you. Instead of dwelling on them or letting them drag you down further, focus on something positive (like how beautiful a landscape is or why you love something). As we become more aware of our minds, we can begin to take control of the direction that our thoughts take. By learning how to focus our attention and wilfully shape our thinking patterns, we are able to create a reality that reflects what we want in life. When it comes down to it, every aspect of ourselves is subject to change, including our thoughts. By realizing that our thoughts are not static, but rather a product of our current environment and experiences, we can begin to understand how we can shape them. When we learn how to control the way we think, it becomes easier to make decisions that will lead us down a path of happiness.

Meditation

I’ve been meditating for many years now, and it’s been one of the most beneficial things I’ve ever done for myself. When I first started meditating, I had no idea how much it would change my life.  Mindfulness meditation is often described as a way of paying attention on purpose in the present moment without judgment. It’s about being aware of what’s going on around you and within you, without judging those things as good or bad, right or wrong, so that you can make more mindful choices about what you do next.  When you meditate, you learn to focus your attention on one thing at a time, whether it’s your breath or an object, and you also learn how to let go of negative thoughts that might be holding you back from being happy. Ultimately with meditation you learn to catch the thoughts that are causing the unwanted emotions in your life.  Meditation is not easy. It takes time and practice to master the art of focusing your attention on one thing at a time without letting other thoughts or distractions pull you away from what you’re doing. The good news is that it’s not about being perfect; the key is simply to keep trying again and again until you get better at it.

Conclusion
Our minds are like narrators, constantly weaving a story based on the thoughts we have. Each thought acts as an author, writing a new chapter in this narrative. Our subconscious mind attempts to make sense of each thought by relating it to our past experiences, creating a coherent story of our lives. By consciously choosing our thoughts, we have the ability to shape an entirely new and empowering story. We are the authors of our thoughts and the stories they tell. We are not passive observers of our thoughts; we actively create them.  Every thought has power because it can change how we feel and how we behave. In order for us to change the story of our mind, we must realize that we can actively change our thoughts to suit the story we want.  We must learn to actively choose which thoughts will be written into our narrative. This is why meditation is so powerful; when we learn to quieten the noise in our minds and focus on one thing at a time, we can begin making smarter choices about which thoughts are helpful and which ones aren’t. Recognizing that our thoughts are created by us in each moment, we realize that we have the ability to change our feelings by changing our thinking. By consciously choosing positive thoughts and directing our minds towards happiness, health and abundance we have the keys to unlock a life of joy and fulfilment. Embrace the power of your thoughts and watch as your reality transforms.
